The need to speculate about this inspiring feature seemed to continue. Why a flying machine should be made from a rock that produces potash rather than some of the more orthodox geophysical features was a mystery. Moreover just where this carving activity occurred seemed to be a greater conundrum. The interestedness was incurable-like recapturing some precious love-affair or day-trip. There seemed to be much that was similar wherever you went in the universe as mentioned before. We all lived on planets of similar size moved in an atmosphere-were regrettably finite-even moving between dimensions with ( a suitably named ) dimensional shifter. There are extremes within all these but the principle is the same.
There was something of the gringo about Prograker Fingo-perhaps it was the surname-who knew. No one here knew what a ‘gringo’ was anyway-there was barely anyone where this insult was made originally who knew-expecting somewhere like this so far from anywhere to understand was ridiculous.
“We must get in the saddle,” suggested Rhaph Primnest who had been impressed by what the Eartheries ( as Rhaph called them) knew as a Western.
There was much about them was an enigma-if it was a stultification of the cost of living which kept them on the move.
In their position Rhaph would have hunted for an autocrat like his tribe had done. Primnest would have written in crayon on the side of their saddle ‘Find the one who can bring some cohesion to all this’. The message would have had reverberation all through the Grand Canyon.
“Nobody would disagree with you,”replied his pal Vation Distrones who was having a field-day with all this-the entire encounter would have a reverberation throughout their culture.
They showed no glimmer of getting close now, nor as they seemed to get slowly iller probably would.
“I am inclined to believe that a silicate would have been better for construction, but then again that isn’t very fair.”
“It’s not- that is true,” responded Rhaph Primnest who tried not to disagree not just with Vation Distrones but generally, trying to avoid confrontation wherever possible preferring to take the easy course of least resistance.
Their togetherness was often like a game of table tennis with Rhaph never hitting the ping-pong across the table aggressively-or tilting the machine to borrow from another humanish pastime which they had tried to convey an affection for known as pinball, which somehow seemed like their respective home-globes haplessly careering through the universal-highways. Perhaps throw in Viliantion flipping like billio trying to hit the chrome bell without too much fuss.
It was enhancing to compare a peoploids who were brought up on overweening with those that had no weaning at all but were fully adult. It leant a certain enchantment to their talent-a polish- but as to if it was worth going through all that just to get to something that could be implanted immediately that was a matter of great philosophical significance.
The catalysis by which silica was made into glass always gave Primnest a thrill, but rather like some earthern’s childhood thrill which they said paled as puberty came the realisation that the glass-making was not a quasi-religious experience (or even a semi-religious one) but something mundane-dare it be proclaimed-even something old-fashioned.
That it must have been a pitiable pantomime without the pre-blessing or prayers as the great heat causing the transparency came, was a disappointment.
For the Yboiveth this would have been like a public address system proclaiming that the glass was unblessed. Such was untenable when it had this mysterious see-thru power--there was so little that was the same. It was difficult for newcomers to understand quite why this was enthralling. It was so notable that sometimes their equivalent of a newspaperman was called in whenever a new batch of see-thru was constructed. This was something of a painkiller or palliative to whatever might be happening. It would seem like the entire grand-slam would come to a halt, which nobody found unusual until this new innocence losers came on the scene. Now the blowing of great glass vases was reduced to a secular activity. The expansion of the molten mass with air not likened to when Odom initially appeared ( supposedly with a whoosh sound).
“Perhaps our opaque-friend is too reminiscent of their Arctic Circle which is why it got such a lackluster reception. Extreme cold is always a guarantor to take the gloss off any enthusiasm.”
A mock shiver resplendent with chattering is given.
“Fire is never smokeless-I’m inclined to believe they knew it but were interested in something different-what we will never discern for we are not from their civilization or familiar with their sedimentation.”
They would never know but had they been able to take take themselves on a journey to when ‘Hecton’ was made then they would realise that it was the thermodynamics they had left which made this medium unpalatable. It wasn’t incompatible with either:-none had gone through a windscreen or scarred themselves with a shard of this.
It was untenable to now but without trepidation of contradiction the slabs seemed similar to the sidewalk of NYC. One had been a boy-racer hot-wiring vehicles then driving them a great speed a perfect skill for an outer-spacer who must be on the other side of the solar system almost immediately without the paranoia of being delayed.
What was a la mode for them would never be discerned for those now were far different.
It was probably some ore with an unpronounceable title that no one else around when they made it knew.
